I am very proud and honoured to have been elected as Captain of Chipping Sodbury Golf Club. I hope I can fulfil my responsibilities to represent the Members and the Club with dignity and grace.
My journey in golf began at the age of 14 when I joined Chipping Sodbury Golf Club in 1977, following my introduction to the game on a modest 9-hole course in Germany. From those early days, my passion for golf has been unwavering, leading to a fulfilling career that spans over four decades.
Throughout my time at Chipping Sodbury, I have had the honor of representing Gloucestershire County both as a player and as a Captain, proudly playing County golf for 40 years. Among my achievements, winning the Gloucestershire Order of Merit twice stands out as a testament to my dedication and love for the game.
Chipping Sodbury Golf Club holds a special place in my heart, not only for its beautiful and challenging course but also for the strategic nature of the game here. Success on our course demands precision and careful planning—positioning the ball correctly is crucial for setting up your next shot, and skillfully navigating the various hazards keeps every round both challenging and rewarding.
Beyond the game itself, what truly makes Chipping Sodbury exceptional is its community spirit. Our club thrives on the camaraderie among its men’s, ladies’, juniors’, and seniors’ sections, all of whom contribute to an inclusive, fun, and inviting atmosphere. Complementing our high-quality course is a vibrant social calendar that ensures members and visitors alike feel welcome both on and off the greens.
For me, golf is more than a sport—it’s a lifelong passion, deeply intertwined with the spirit of Chipping Sodbury Golf Club.
I would like to wish everyone an enjoyable year and look forward to meeting you all at some point throughout the year, whether on the course or in the clubhouse.
Dave Wood, CSGC Club Captain 2025

Dear Members and Guests,
It is with great pleasure and pride that I welcome you all to our golf club. As Lady Captain, I am honoured to serve and represent this fantastic community of golfers. Whether you are a seasoned player or new to the game, we are thrilled to have you with us.
Our club is not only a fantastic place to enjoy the wonderful golf course and many competitions we hold each year, but also a place for camaraderie, being with family and friends, and creating lasting memories. I encourage you to embrace the spirit of friendly competition and enjoy the stunning surroundings and exceptional facilities we have to offer.
We have a great, fun ladies section here of whom many compete in the league matches as well as attending ladies and mixed friendly competitions in our region. There’s always something going on, both during the week and at weekends and we regularly play in ‘open to all’ competitions with the men, juniors and seniors.
Should you need any assistance or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Wishing you all the very best of luck on the course.
Lady Captain
Roz Morris, CSGC Lady Captain 2025

It is a great pleasure, as Senior’s Captain for 2024, to introduce you to its Seniors section and to extend an invitation to you, to come and take a look at what we have to offer. Whether you are an experienced golfer or just wanting to take up golf, you are assured of a warm and friendly welcome.
Our Seniors section, with just short of 200 members, is an active part of the larger golf club and offers a variety of social and competitive golf to suit all tastes for those who are 55 years and over.
Monday morning roll-ups offer the opportunity for new and existing members to meet and play. Wednesday is seniors day with the Seniors team, which is open to all, playing 26 matches home and away, giving seniors the opportunity to play many local courses and to play host to visiting seniors teams too. On Wednesdays when there is no match there are all kinds of competitions from individual trophies to pairs and team events. There are two events run with the ladies section and there are three seniors dinners during the year that provide an opportunity for members and their partners to mix and socialise.
Whatever form of golf you enjoy, be it internal competitive golf, inter-club friendly matches or simply a social round with friends you will find it on offer at Chipping Sodbury Golf Club.
So why not come and meet us, and let us tell you more?
Ian Lowe, CSGC Senior’s Captain 2025

Chipping Sodbury Golf Club is proud to boast a vibrant junior section, run by a group of volunteers, led by junior organiser Jim Long and Andrew McLelland.
We have a wide range of junior golfers, ranging from beginners to Category 1 County players. All juniors are encouraged to meet throughout the summer months on a Tuesday evening, where different 9 hole competitions are organised for them. This has proved to be very successful, bringing the whole section together, and although competitive, it is always played in a friendly atmosphere.
Thursday evenings in summer and Friday evenings during the winter are tuition nights, where discounted group tuition is available to all juniors with our Junior Coach, ex European Tour player, David Ray.
Chipping Sodbury Golf Club also enters a junior team into The Bristol & District Junior Golf League. This gives our juniors the opportunity to play matchplay against other local golf clubs, and of course, the opportunity to play other courses.
The match is followed by a meal where both teams sit together and relive their individual experiences. In 2014, Chipping Sodbury Golf Club achieved a unique treble, winning the League, Cup and the Inter-League Cup. No other club has ever achieved this to date!
Please note that to comply with all relevant Child Protection regulations, Jim and Andrew both hold a valid PGA Level 1 coaching certificate, which includes DBS, Child Protection and Duty of Care. All other volunteers and staff also hold a valid DBS certificate.
