We are a friendly members club, where you can enjoy either social or competitive golf, and also the friendly atmosphere in the clubhouse.

  • Men

I am very proud and honoured to have been elected as Captain of Chipping Sodbury Golf Club. I hope I can fulfil my responsibilities to represent the members and the Club with dignity and grace.

The golf course itself is highly respected in the area, and provides a challenge to golfers of all abilities, with a comprehensive programme of golfing events held throughout the year. We have 3 men’s scratch teams in the Bristol & District Golf League. The club also has a men’s handicap team, ladies’, seniors’ and juniors’ teams, which gives players the opportunity to play on other courses in the area, but if social non-competitive golf is your thing then that is fine also.

In the clubhouse our catering and bar staff offer a friendly service with a comprehensive menu for both bar snacks and formal lunches and dinners. We also offer a programme of social events including whist drives, quizzes and our ever popular cabaret evenings.

The Golf Reception offers a wide range of golfing equipment and our teaching professional David Ray is on hand to provide excellent coaching to all.

I would like to wish everyone an enjoyable year and look forward to meeting you all at some point during the year whether on the course or in the clubhouse.

Kevin Ell, CSGC Club Captain 2023

  • Ladies

As Ladies Captain 2023, I would like to tell you about our Ladies Section. We are a small section within the overall Club with a membership of approximately 65 ladies. This includes 7 day members, 5 day members and a number of social members that are usually ex playing members. They have a wide range of abilities between them from new players to very experienced.

    On the Course:

Tuesday is Ladies Day when we play the majority of our Club competitions. We also play a regular 9 hole roll up on a Thursday morning. In addition ladies play regular golf and competitions on Sundays including mixed matches. We also have a number of teams that you can play in. Our lower handicap members play in the Bristol and District Alliance League and our higher handicap players have the opportunity to play in Ladies Friendlies and both can play in Mixed Friendlies. These matches are played at home or away on other local courses and are very popular and fun ways to join in the Club’s activities and play at other courses.  Summer golf can be a very busy and enjoyable time. We are also very fortunate to play during the winter months, weather permitting and our club competitions are very well supported by the section. If you are a beginner, returner or looking for a new club to play, Chipping Sodbury will give you a warm welcome and the opportunity to play at a time to suit you. You will see lady golfers out on the course most days of the week.

Two Professional Golf Coaches offer both individual and group lessons, suitable for all abilities. A covered driving range, outdoor practice area, putting green and chipping area are all available for practice.

    Off the Course:

After your game, the Club House Lounge is where we meet up for refreshments, plus all the usual chatter of how well we played! There are many social activities you can join in: We have regular Quizzes and Cabaret nights throughout the year, while the club’s Sunday lunches are very popular.

If you are interested in trying something new, returning or looking for a new Club, please call or email me to arrange to come up to the Club for coffee, have a look around, and see what we have to offer.

Brenda St Paul, CSGC Lady Captain 2023

  • Seniors

It is a great pleasure, as Senior’s Captain for 2023, to introduce you to its Seniors section and to extend an invitation to you to come and take a look at what we have to offer. Whether you are an experienced golfer or just wanting to take up golf, you are assured of a warm and friendly welcome.

Our Seniors section, with just short of 200 members, is an active part of the larger golf club and offers a variety of social and competitive golf to suit all tastes for those who are 55 years and over.

Monday morning roll-ups offer the opportunity for new and existing members to meet and play. Wednesday is seniors day with the Seniors team (which is open to all) playing 26 matches home and away, giving seniors the opportunity to play many local courses and to play host to visiting seniors teams. On Wednesdays when there is no match there are all kinds of competitions from individual trophies to pairs and team events. There are two events run with the ladies section and there are three seniors dinners during the year that provide an opportunity for members and their partners to mix and socialise.

Whatever form of golf you enjoy, be it internal competitive golf, interclub friendly matches or simply a social round with friends you will find it on offer at Chipping Sodbury Golf Club.

So why not come and meet us and let us tell you more?

John Cumming, CSGC Senior’s Captain 2023

  • Juniors

Chipping Sodbury Golf Club is proud to boast a vibrant junior section, run by a group of volunteers, led by junior organiser Simon O’Brien.

We have a wide range of junior golfers, ranging from beginners to Category 1 County players. All juniors are encouraged to meet throughout the summer months on a Tuesday evening, where different 9 hole competitions are organised for them. This has proved to be very successful, bringing the whole section together, and although competitive, it is always played in a friendly atmosphere.

Friday night is tuition night, where discounted group tuition is available to all juniors with our Junior Coach, ex European Tour player, David Ray.

Chipping Sodbury Golf Club also enters a junior team into The Bristol & District Junior Golf League. This gives our juniors the opportunity to play matchplay against other local golf clubs, and of course, the opportunity to play other courses.

The match is followed by a meal where both teams sit together and relive their individual experiences. In 2014, Chipping Sodbury Golf Club achieved a unique treble, winning the league, cup and the inter-league cup. No other club has ever achieved this.

N.B. – To comply with all relevant Child Protection regulations, Simon holds a valid PGA Level 1 coaching certificate, which includes DBS, child protection and duty of care. All other volunteers and staff hold a valid DBS certificate.
