Greenkeeping Assistant
Full-Time Permanent Position Chipping Sodbury Golf Club
Chipping Sodbury Golf Club is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Greenkeeper to join our dedicated course maintenance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a long-term career within the golf and sports turf industry, working at one of Gloucestershire’s well-established private members’ golf clubs.
Working under the direction of the Head Greenkeeper and Course Management Team, the successful applicant will assist in maintaining and presenting the golf course to a consistently high standard throughout the year.
The role will involve early mornings, outdoor working in all weather conditions, and weekend work on a rota basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily preparation and maintenance of the golf course
- Mowing greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and surrounds
- Bunker maintenance and course set-up
- Assisting with aeration, top dressing, overseeding, and irrigation
- Operation and basic maintenance of turf care machinery
- Assisting with renovation and construction projects
- Ensuring all work is completed in line with Health & Safety procedures
- Supporting the wider greenkeeping team in delivering excellent playing conditions
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Ability to work effectively within a team
- Reliable and punctual
- Willingness to work early mornings and weekends
- Full UK driving licence or working towards obtaining one
- Genuine interest in greenkeeping, turf management, or golf course maintenance
Desirable
- Previous greenkeeping or grounds maintenance experience
- NVQ Level 2 in Sports Turf Management (or working towards)
- PA1 / PA2 / PA6 spraying certificates
- Experience operating turf machinery
- Understanding of golf and golf course presentation standards

Hours of Work
- Full-time permanent position
- Average 40 hours per week
- Weekend rota applicable
- Seasonal working hours may vary
